New Build! V0.75 - Of Dice and Men

Grab it here - http://depositfiles.com/files/jbseobfw4 - or at the link on the side bar.

Sorry it's been a week, things have been pretty frantic. Getting some BIG NEWS tommorow that is either going to be very good or very bad. If it goes good, I'll hopefully be able to spend a lot more time on this, if it goes bad, well, I won't. We will see!
Not huge amounts of new stuff in the game, sorry. A few bits and bobs here and there, desert enemies, a new potion, a few fixes, start of jail stuff, things like that. Biggest new thing is a new gambling game in Gillesport that's going to tie into the water/ocean quest. Took me ages to get it set up and working, and it's still a little ropey.

Other big new thing is the first victory scenes, for defeating single bandits. Let me know what you think, more will be added soon.

Enjoy it, another update soon hopefully, if you can spare us a coin please do, have fun!

Pie Day

Today is my birthday! So I am working on the game because I am a doof. There will be an update later today, with some bits of prison stuff, minor bits here and there, and the beginings of the victory scenes.
Gimme a yell here if you have any suggestions for victory scenes or anything!

Art Day!

Woke up with a cold and that made me want to do art for some reason. Like this prison cell.
I've been wanting to get some prison stuff working so they player can get arrested since I started on this thing.

Any other game areas you think could do with art? Shout them out here and I just might art them. ^_^

New Build - V0.07 (James Bond Edition, I guess)

Get it from here http://depositfiles.com/files/yg0fsp69s or the side bar! It has lots of new stuff in it, including this mysterious thing -

Combat glitching is still NOT fixed, I'm going to try to get that all sorted out today. Right now I need to sleep, 'cause I've been up all night and my brain is all soft and dribbly and cries when I try to make it do complicated stuff. Going to get some sleep and then tackle it. I just wanted to get a build with some new stuff out because it has been a while, and we got a nice sized donation last night - thanks, dude! - and that warrants an update for you guys.

Stuff that is new in -

* Unique art for every inn! Had fun doing these, and I think they add a lot of character. They make me want to make the barstaff all developed characters too. Some of them are better than others, let me know if I've messed anything up bad on any of them and I will try to fix them up.

 * Rough version of the desert quest is in and working! Can be completed, but there's no monsters to fight on the way, I will add those shortly. And for some reason - I'm putting this down to having been awake all night - I seem to have totally forgot to make it particularly saucy at all. This is a thing I can fix up easily though. You can always add more sauce to a thing.

 * A load of little bits and bobs, starting to integrate world reactions to player tf's, stuff like that

* I'm sure there was something else major-ish too but I cannot remember what for the life of me.

So, yeah. Let me know what you think, particularly about the main "puzzle" for the desert quest. I am really not sure if it's too easy or too hard, or even if there should be puzzles in a game like this. Or what I mean by a "game like this". I'm going to go sleep.

Inn-famy

More Inns! Only a couple more to go and we'll have a unique image for every inn in the game. I dunno how much you guys care about this, but I like to think it adds to the atmosphere - When I was a kid, I always hated it in games like "Pirates" where you could travel miles and miles across the game map, and when you got to your far flung destination, it used the exact same graphics as the one you left. It really took the thrill out of travelling and exploring. But, if you disagree with me and don't care about all that, don't worry, next quest bit is almost done too. You'll be navigating the desert landmarks before long. ^_^

Wardrobe Malfunctions and Magic

Okay, been up all night working on things, update soon with the desert quest in in rough form! Two questions before that -

I was adding a wandering tailor as a random encounter, and realised that I actually know next to nothing about the names and styles of pseudo medieval clothing - or well, not even medieval. The fashions of the Lusty Lands seem to be a little later than that with the highwaymen and all. But anyway, this is a bit of a gap in my knowledge so I'm going to ask you guys - what sort of clothes would you like to be able to wear in the game? Just post some here and if they seem to fit, I'll stick them in. Current clothing slots as head, torso, legs, arms (bracelets etc), feet and "overcoat". And feel free to request any hairstyles or other body mods too, while we're on a fashion bent.

I've been working on the magic too - trying to come up with a good way of implementing it rather than having just a select spells from a list thing. This is my current idea.
You'd have three boxes on the screen, each with a letter of the alphabet in it. They all cycle through the alphabet fast, and the player presses return to stop them one at a time. If you spell out the name of a spell, that spell is selected - so, ZAP would be a lightning bolt, for example. This way they player has a chance to accidentally discover or guess at spells, as well as learning them properly. A higher magic - or maybe intelligence - score would make the letters cycle more slowly. I'm not sure if I'd have the spell select mini game directly cast the spells, or if you have to do this in a special room in the magic school, and then "carry" the spell with you until it's time to cast it.
Does that make sense, and sound like it'd be fun? I wanted to have some sort of little mini game for it. If that made no sense at all, I guess I'll rig up a test version and we'll just see how it plays, but I thought I'd get your feedback before I took the plunge with it, in case any of you guys had a better idea.

Oh, and that image is my go at the seedy Inn in Branston. I think I'm making all the bar staff too ugly for a game like this, but grouchy surly people are fun to draw. ^_^ EDIT - and below is the image for the Inn at the magic school. I think I made this barmaid cuter. I guess it's easier to make witches cute, though. Perhaps.
